Alliance Statement on Passing of Kathy J. Sackman, RN
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Kathy J. Sackman, RN President Emeritus of UNAC/UHCP and one of the founders of the Labor Management Partnership on December 31, 2021. Nurses, health care workers, and the labor movement lost one of the greatest leaders of our time. Kathy devoted thirty-eight years in service to UNAC/UHCP and always sought the best outcome for patients and union members. She was one of the key architects of the Labor Management Partnership and co-founder of the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions. We are all the beneficiaries of her leadership and accomplishments, and her legacy will continue to improve the lives of so many healthcare professionals, their families, and their patients.
We extend our condolences to her family, friends, and our labor family. We will honor her legacy every day in our partnership work and beyond.
